 MENTORSHIP WITH THE FLOOR

The Floor’s Mentorship Program is designed to help inspire, organize and advance the career paths of movement professionals. In a uniquely curated course, you can choose to expand your teaching skills and intuitive body knowledge, brainstorm and develop a business plan for future endeavors, and learn how to bridge the gap between personal integrity and capitalism.

This three month program begins with a 60-minute Intake Session that determines the specific goals of the mentee, with this information a unique curriculum is developed. Some of the avenues of the mentorship can include:

The Mentorship Program is guided and administered by Jamie Dowd, co-founder and owner of The Floor.


Jamie Dowd has over 20 years of experience teaching movement and an additional 15 years as an administrator in the field. She was trained in the Vaganova technique by Irina Kolpakova and Vladimir Simonov, finding balance with ballet, she began studying Pilates. Her teaching style is influenced by STOTT Pilates, Teri Steele and the Kane School. In addition to Pilates Jamie has studied: Thai Massage, Functional Movement, Pre/Post Natal, Special Populations, and Kettlebells among others.

Prior to opening The Floor in 2017, she created ADVC, a platform for post-professional dancers to continue work in the studio and on stage. Her earlier administrative roles include: Education Director of Dance New Amsterdam, Education Manager of Elevate Cooperative, Education Manager of the Kane School, Project Manager for Spencer Trask VC.
