EVENTS & WORKSHOPS

The Floor holds rotating workshops in Prenatal Pilates, Postnatal Pilates, Preteen Yoga and Introductory Courses in Pilates & Yoga. In addition to the movement workshops, we hold community events and book readings in our space.

INTRODUCTION TO PILATES
with JAMIE DOWD
Sundays from 9:00-10:00am
January 14th, 21st, 28th & Feb 4th, 11th
Course Fee: $170

In this 5-class series, we will go over the main principles of Pilates, what they mean, and how to apply them to your body. A contemporary approach will be taken when learning the technique to ensure modality for all body types. The mission of the workshop is to make the mover feel comfortable in a group Pilates class, as well as have an at-home routine to keep them strong and supple.

This course will operate as a lecture demonstration. Where movement and learning will be paired with note taking and discussion on the functionality of the technique. To ensure quality care and instruction,space is limited to 8 students.

YOUTH YOGA SERIES
with HILLARY LOPES
Thursdays 3:30-4:30pm
January 25, February 1, 8, 15,
March 1, 8, 15, 22
Series Fee: $240

This 8-week yoga series is designed with 10-12-year-olds in mind. The 60-minute class will begin with heart and belly breathing, transitioning into a movement based flow, ending with a savasana. Each class will be both relaxing and challenging, creating a safe place for the participants to grow and explore their physical strength, endurance, and calmness of mind.             *Scholarship available. PRENATAL PILATES WORKSHOP
with JANESSA CLARK
Mondays from 6:15-7:15pm
January 29th, February 5th, 19th, 26th,
March 12th & 19th
Course Fee: $210

This workshop is geared towards pregnant women who wish to remain safely active on their journey towards motherhood. It is important to maintain physical activity for your health and well-being, but not to push yourself beyond safe limits. This isn't the time to strive for a perfect teaser, but to breathe, stay mobile, reinforce proper alignment, and build up your support! Pilates is the perfect form of exercise as it is gentle, safe and effective at strengthening your deep muscular support system, while also keeping your body flexible and able to adapt to a shifting center of gravity.

ESSENTIAL OILS AN ALCHEMICAL APPROACH
with CHRISTINE NICHOLS
Saturday, February 3rd from 9:00am-5:00pm
Course Fee: $145
15% Discount if registered before January 15th

In this workshop we will go deeper into our understanding of essential oils, and how to use them effectively and safely. Using essential oils and the principles of Chinese medicine you will learn how to remove your physical, mental and emotional blocks, helping you to create the change you want to see.

In this one-day workshop you will learn:
-Practical and spiritual indications for many oils
-Protocols to treat back pain, headache, neck pain, and general muscle tension
-Fragrance energetics-how an oil moves in your body
-How to apply the oils and a general understanding of the 5 elements in Chinese medicine

A variety of oils will be discussed and used, and everyone will get a chance to apply and use the oils.
